A Rainy Day in South Florida {Rainy Day Music Playlist}

The photograph above was actually taken on a rainy day in Lexington, Kentucky while visiting my sister. She makes the best music mixes!
Now we use Spotify to make mixes, but I'm feeling nostalgia for the days I received an actual package in the mail containing a mix CD.

While I know this will never replace receiving a mix CD (or tape!) in the mail, here's a few of my favorite rainy day tunes.

Some melancholic, some hopeful.

All fun to listen to while appreciating the significance of the rain cleansing and nourishing the environment which we're part of.

Behind the Scenes {Palm Beach County Band Photo-Shoot}

Wanted to share some photos of a really fun "work" day in one of my favorite locations in Palm Beach County, my friends' self-sustaining garden.

I was there technically to take one photograph.

Local band, Black Finger, had a new album about to be released and they hired me to create a promotional image for the back cover.

Enjoy a few of the images I took on the day of the shoot:

The gracious (and expectant) hosts, Jomarie, Greg (lead guitar/vocals), and Lemmy.

Modeling is tough work! Waiting around for the table to be set.

OK, all set...

Wait, maybe we should move it to better light...

Watching all the action. :)
Loved the amber color of this honey!

"Want some kale?"

Andy's beautiful steel guitar in front of a fragrant wall of jasmine.
One year later. Marissa (flutist) and Sean (bass), happily ever after. If you follow my blog at all, you may recognize these two from THIS post of their amazing wedding.

Last shot before I had to run off to photograph a gig in Ft Lauderdale for the Broward Palm Beach New Times.
View all of the images I shot of vintage bike night and Skinny Jimmy and the Stingrays at Five Point Lounge, HERE.

THANK YOU to the members of Black Finger for including me in the excitement of their fourth album release! If you would like to hear their Americana/blues/rockin' new music, check it out here, or on iTunes.

SCENE: Maitejosune Urrechaga's Solo Show at Swampspace {Miami}

If you haven't already, read the solid article by Arterpillar blog owner and journalist, Colleen Dougher, HERE with a preview of this show, and some Q & A with Maite.

If you couldn't make it to the show, some photos would be helpful, yes? See below :)

Even better, a reminder that the show will be up for a couple more days from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. through May 18 at Swampspace, 150 N.E. 42nd St., Miami.

Visit Swampspace.blogspot.com.

My first time here! It was a bit rainy and I was glad I didn't have to trek through the chaos of Wynwood.

No, I can't pronounce it either.
Friends!

Self-portrait.

The get-away...
Grapes in your wine. A bit redundant, but Tony recommends it.

So pretty.

Painting by Maite, detail.

Surfing with a porpoise.
When they say, "We're hangin' at the Swamp..." they mean it. Literally.

Congratulations to Maite on her first solo show, and to the Swampspace gallery!

Morning Beach Walk {Florida Fine Art Photography}

It never fails. I set my alarm well before sunrise and I have to convince myself to get to the beach "on time."

Snuggled up in my warm bed, packing my camera gear seems like a chore. How does going to the beach ever become a chore? Especially when EVERY time I go, I come back grateful I had gone.

Today, for example...

In my almost 10 years of living in South Florida, I'd never seen as many shells (on the east coast, anyway) as I did today!

Meditation.

An "up-cycled" aluminum can.

I picked up so many shells that my camera bag was filled by the time I was done taking photos. Wait, I don't think I'll ever be done taking photos...
