Learn Stuff and People will Pay You {Monica McGivern Photography Consulting}

I was recently hired as the photographic consultant to an author penning his first book, documenting the history and prestige of one of the finest private golf courses in the nation.

Jupiter's Loxahatchee Golf Club is one of the only private Jack Nicklaus designed courses in the country. During the scope of my project, I was handed original photographs of people such as astronaut Neil Armstrong, and many golf legends including Jack Nicklaus, Chi-Chi Rodriguez, Dottie Pepper and more.

My task was to restore and discuss the content of the images for maximum layout impact. Approximately 150 images total. What a history that club has for being built in 1984!

The book was just released and I was generously given an inscribed copy.

It felt great to have had a hand in helping someone complete a life-long goal to write a book. Especially since I simply felt I was just doing what I loved, applying the knowledge and experiences collected since beginning my photographic endeavors.

Inscription reads: "Monica, Best wishes and my sincere thanks for your very excellent work in organizing and producing the photographs! -Gordon Gray" 

Also, yes that is Bryant Gumbel judging the Loxhatchee's annual dog show. Gumbel is a member at the Loxahatchee and while they normally like to keep a low profile, I believe they may have allowed a celebrity to join the club only under the condition that he'd play a significant role in the club's revered event. ;)

While I know nothing about golf, I do know about photography.

Since people hold value in experience, as a professional, remember that your time, energy, acquired knowledge, and efforts are all valuable in the right market. Don't sell yourself short!
